Listen: /watch/wg0-qcsWwM3W- While arguably more metal than the first two volumes of City Morgue music, Toxic Boogaloo still feels like a step down for the duo. @NoiseJester_4 years ago Sosmula absolutely murdered Yakuza, one of my favorite morgue songs. I can't get enough of it. 452
  • @
@julianrosenits4 years ago Solid 9/10, every track is an absolute banger, the instrumentals are brutal, the choruses slap, the verses are just outlandishly violent and the duo has a chemistry like no other. Love this project. 637

  • @
@siren6044 years ago "YOU CAN SMD" is the modern counterpart to Slipknot's absolute banger of a classic "Get This" and nobody is going to take that away from me 118
  • @
@Bornagainvillain4 years ago I like the EP, but I always end up going back to volume 1 or 2. I gotta say though, I'm liking Sosmula's solos a lot better now. 114

@michaelbell49304 years ago 1st volume: Solid. A little one dimensional. Great energy.
2nd volume: Some of the same stuff with a bit of a new direction here and there but the latter isn't as sharp. Maybe next time.
This one: Starting to feel formulaic. Back to step one. But I don't care. When it's on, there is no one greater than me, I destroy all enemies with a single thought of malice, the weeds in my yard water the plants for me, and death itself has given me a ten-year extension. It kinda slaps.
Edit: It's starting to sound like some of these riffs are made with like FL Slayer or something. Yikes?

@skinc4rver4 years ago They both said that this is basically a b-side release. It's leftovers, but it's fun. It doesn't really change anything for me though, Zilla's voice make me max out at the gym and that's all that matters. ... 7
  • @
@francescoanimations24594 years ago Hey Anthony you blinked in the thumbnail 10
  • @
@stringer41934 years ago Yeah I wasn't too crazy on this EP either, but Zilla has said that they have an actual album coming soon so hopefully that'll make up for it. I hope city morgue starts to go back to their roots a little more and use more bassy instrumentals like 33rd blakk glass, rather than the standard guitar riff that's seen all over this project. ... 7

  • @
@blakeprocter58184 years ago I can agree with the lyrics not being all there, and being downright dumb in a few places. I cannot agree with the production though. Every beat on this EP just hits perfectly. It may even be my favourite production on a Morgue project yet. Even on the weaker tracks like Yakuza and Super Soaka the beats are still really good. I think it's my second favourite Morgue project after Vol. 1 ... 2

  • @
@TheLunarZone4 years ago As a long time City Morgue fan, I'm extremely glad they are free from the label. As much as I enjoyed some of these tracks, I know that they have far more ambitious ideas in their catalogue (hinted with songs like The Balloons) most of which couldn't be released because of their label. With all the leaks, they needed to hussle in order to fill in the album that would free them from Hikari Ultra. Now that they are free to do what they want, I can definitely see them evolving their sound to the more mellow side of things reminiscent of leaked tracks such as frailty, some say, end is near, etc. Sosmula is definitely stepping into his own as well ... 1
