Rath Yatra Glimpse 2023

Following the world-renowned and ancient Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra, ISKCON, Coimbatore is celebrating this Ratha Yatra festival every year in the city. This year ceremony was held at Thermutti on 24.06.2023 Saturday. Srila Prabhupada introduced Ratha Yatra to America This traditional festival was first introduced outside India in the year 1967 in San Francisco, USA by ISKCON Founder Acharya A.C. Bhakti Vedanta Swami Prabhupada, and is now celebrated with great enthusiasm by Hare Krishna devotees in various cities around the world. The Original Mula-Vigrahas in Ratha Yatra On Saturday at 2.00 p.m., the Chariot Festival started at Thermutti, Town Hall and the huge Chariot along with the deities of Sri Jagannath, Baladeva and Subadra devi, passed through Raja Street, Oppanakkara Street, Vaisyaal Street, Karupagoundar Street and finally arrived back at Thermutti. It is important to note that only during the Sri Jaggannath Chariot festival, the original deities are seen in chariots. (Mulavigrahas) Deputy Mayor Mr.Vetriselvan and Councilors and prominent entrepreneurs of Coimbatore were present at the function, held in the presence of ISKCON’s South Indian Regional Secretary Bhakti Vinod Swami Maharaj. Detailed arrangements have been made for thousands of local and outside devotees to participate in this chariot festival. Special bhajans, Hari Nama Sankirtan, Music and Dance performances by artists to showcase our artistic culture were the highlights during the Ratha Yatra. Evening program After the Ratha Yatra, special pujas were held at 7.00 PM in the Jagannath Mandir.
