Stephen Hazel asks on YouTube: "I thought we were supposed to stay the heck away from omega6 (and to a lesser extent omega3s) as they break down into toxins if you have any excess..." Disclaimer: I have a PhD in Nutritional Sciences but am not a medical doctor. None of this is medical advice. Condensed answer (see video for details): Yes, PUFA beyond what we need can be broken down into toxic byproducts, but minimizing this isn't just about PUFA restriction, but also about antioxidant nutrients such as vitamin E, vitamin C, riboflavin as FADH2, niacin as NADPH, glucose, the everything that supports the pentose phosphate pathway, manganese, magnesium, zinc, copper, iron seleneium, protein, glycine, magnesium, and all the B vitamins and other nutrients (copper, iron, and sulfur for example) that support ATP synthesis. What we need should be defined as the minimal target plus what we need to avoid deficiencies of other nutrients, plus anything needed to resolve deficiency signs and symptoms. So, the big picture is that we don't want excess PUFA, but PUFA restriction shouldn't come at the expense of any of the other components involved in their protection.
