@lucindabreeding3 years ago I grew up united methodist, but attended baylor university in college. We actually called the placeon the brazos. " my four years on the baylor campus acquainted me with a number of southern baptist students who believed that the bible is literal truth. And while i never heard any garden variety anti-semitism, it was not uncommon to encounter students and adults who told the story of magog and the end times, and explained that most jews and muslims were going to be slaughtered. The war would cause the streets of jerusalem to run red with jewish and muslim blood. A very tiny percentage of surviving jews will supposedly accept christ and be accepted into the kingdom of god. I have always wondered why israel has been so cozy with these evangelical elements of american politics. It' s really not a theology that is favorable to them, but i guess since they can achieve some short-term gains, they are happy taking money from people who celebrate at the idea of the slaughter of their very statehood. ...Expand 99

@Sarah-re7cg6 months ago Im making this comment post-oct. 7th 2023. Ive been seeing washpo publish more articles about the reality of what going on against palestinians. I k id="hidden21"now its so late in the grand scheme of things, but its still something. Im hoping this will put some kind of dent in the seemingly impenetrable unbridled support for american aid to the israeli government. Weve been funding far right religious fascists and im hoping the dialogue in america will be shifting. Post-oct. 7th i was immediately and consistently asked if i supported hamas and asked if i condemned their actions. The absolute monopoly on reality and being able to even discuss wtf has been going on against palestinians is horrific. I was called a baby murderer numerous times (which gets dull after awhile because im pro-choice so its like ) one thing that pisses me off is the description of an ethnic cleansing going on in washpo articles as opposed to outright stating what it is. That being said, a preliminary look at the comments (which i know this is anecdotal af and who knows how long theyll be there and who is making them) under those washpo articles are american readers overwhelmingly looking to cut off support for israeli fascists and reassessing what has been going on for so long. ...Expand 2
